For more than two thousand years, lateen rigged dhows have been sailing the Indian Ocean, linking economies and people, and creating a cosmopolitan maritime Indian Ocean culture. While trade was the primary rationale, a great variety of people used dhows to cross the oceans: sailors, merchants and settlers.
Sailaway Dhow Safaris offer fully catered safaris, so you can relax and enjoy the islands while we take care of you. Sailaway dhows are seaworthy and crewed by experienced sailors. Each dhow is equipped with lifejackets, communication and first-aid kits. An auxiliary motor ensures that in the event of adverse wind conditions we are still able to reach our destination.
We offer day safaris to various islands in the Bazaruto Archipelago and sunset safaris departing from Vilanculos for short sails in the bay in the late afternoon.
