Leaving a positive legacy through conscious travel
Launched in 2021, Santorini Footprints was the natural extension of our vision to become more impactful and sustainable in our interactions with the community and environment of Vilanculos and the surrounding area. We believe in giving back to our local community through various initiatives and by offering the time and mentorship of our Santorini Team. Monetary support is donated for the education and nourishment of our next local generation. For every night spent by our guests at Santorini, 1% of revenue is donated by Santorini to our Santorini Footprints Projects. Through our various initiatives, we aim to leave a sustainable and positive footprint in the lives and land of this Mozambican coastline.

VILANCULOS BEACH CLEAN-UP
The Vilanculos Beach Clean-Up Project consists of local fishermen and traders who are personally invested in preserving the beaches and wildlife of the area. Santorini Footprints aids the team with caps and t-shirts to be worn during their clean-up sessions. Per quarter, an average of 600kg of waste is removed from our beaches as a result of the relentless work of our local volunteers.

CHIGAMANE PRIMARY SCHOOL
The Chigamane Primary School located in the Vilanculos village, lies close to our heart. Santorini Mozambique partnered with ParCo to raise funds to improve the learning environment for its scholars. The donations are allocated to School Access Kits, the Chigamane Feeding Project, the Teacher Housing Project and the schools vegetable garden.

PACK FOR A PURPOSE
We are proud supporters of Pack for a Purpose. A global initiative to encourage travellers to pack essential supplies for donation during their travels, Pack for a Purpose has transported over 195,990 kg of supplies to over 55 countries. Our guests are encouraged to partake in the initiative and all the proceeds are donated to the local community of Vilanculos.

ParCo
We have partnered with ParCo to help the local community create solutions to environmental and social challenges in the area. The 5 primary portfolios that ParCo focuses on, but are not limited to, are early childhood development, marine biodiversity, plastic pollution, health, and education. Their initiatives include EcoPonto, Beach Cleanup, Seahorse Protection, School Access Kits, Dwelling Projects, and the Luz Sunscreen Project.

LUZ PROJECT
The Luz Project is a heart-warming initiative to help children with albinism through the simple act of donating sunscreen, hats and long-sleeved shirts. Protection from the sun prevents children and adults with albinism from health problems, including skin cancer. Our guests are encouraged to donate sunscreen or as little as $10 (the price for a bottle of sunscreen) towards the Luz Project.
